Shutdown Planned Windows

You ever have the need to leave the house and could not turn off the computer because maybe was being critical as downloading an update, a 'defrag operation or even a scan of system by the 'Virus? Surely you have seen forced to leave the PC turned on unnecessarily for many hours when perhaps an ongoing operation would require no more than a half hour…
In fact Windows incorporates a feature to manage the planned shutdown, only that you can run only from the command line: this fact certainly does not contribute to make it easily identifiable and usable by all.

In any case, the next time you have this kind of requirement proceed as follows:

  • Select "Start => Run…"
  • In the box that appears, type "shutdown-s-t [waiting time in seconds]"
  • You will know that they have successfully launched the command appear when you will see a small box showing the waiting time before the

For example, if you want your PC to turn off automatically after one hour you have to type: shutdown-s-t 3600.
Do only attention to the fact that, once launched, the command shutdown can not be canceled!
