Install a simple smtp in your PC (Windows)
A server SMTP (simple mail transfer protocol) is a service that lets you send e-mail with programs like Outlook, Thunderbird, Outlook Express. Normally this service is provided by your ISP connectivity (ADSL or modem) as Telecom Italia with Alice, with Infostrada Free Tele 2 and many other national or local.
It may happen, perhaps for work, having to connect the network to a client or a structure that does not use connectivity to the same supplier of our office or our home. Almost certainly, in these conditions, we will not be able to send mail. The service offered by the provider for their clients is almost always locked if you use different lines. For example, connecting with Alice can not send mail with the SMTP setting that you use for free.
The most simple and immediate to all these problems lies in 'install directly into your PC into an SMTP server staff. In this way our PC becomes in fact a real SMTP server, which can turn when we need it and that allows us to be 'independent' from the internet that we are using.
Among the various software available, will present a not very recent, but for simplicity and lightness not equal. It is called Argo Mail Server, and is available in both free and pay-TV. In fact, is more than just a SMTP server, you can handle real inboxes, but will be subject of another article.
Installation is simple (it takes no option). Only the first will start a notice regarding the entitlement to relay and any other options missing in talk about later. Argo Mail Server will start anyway and you will see an icon in traybar the lower right corner.

To set minimum requirements for a simple operation, you must click the right button on you see in the picture and click the "Options". This opens the window you see in the reported figure. The program is initially set with a series of restrictions that do not allow the shipment of mail. E 'must change the "Allow Relay" (enable) and "DNS Server" specifying the address 208.67.222.222 (address of the service OpenDNS).

You can set your mail program to use "localhost" as SMTP service. For example, if you use Outlook Express, in the settings of mail found a window of options like this, where the box labeled 'Outgoing Mail (SMTP) "set as in Figure" localhost ".

From now on every outgoing email will pass through Argo, whose icon will become red during shipment.
Warnings: transforming the PC into a server to send out mail, the service is authorized only to you, but also to people outside who are "networked" with you. E 'therefore necessary to activate only when necessary. To protect yourself from this problem can be set to send out mail a username and password in the options of Argos data are then set in mail program.
Download the Argo Mail or visit the official website.
