How to prevent and remove USB devices "ghost"
There has never happened that Windows will show as available USB devices which are physically disconnected from the PC?
Unfortunately, when these situations occur could also run into troublesome problems of instability of the operating system because the software could groped access to these devices causing unpredictable results.
The USB devices "ghost" may appear for several reasons, although perhaps the most common are those associated with an error during the procedure off. Officially, Microsoft says the following:
If the Safely Remove Hardware icon appears in the taskbar notification area, you must use [it]. If the Safely Remove Hardware icon is not in the notification area, you must use Device Manager to uninstall the disk before you unplug it.
So the safe removal of 'hadware is a compulsory procedure to be followed in order to avoid inconvenience or loss of data. But what can we do if the safe remove icon does not appear by clicking on it or if nothing happens? This icon is a shortcut to "HotPlug Manager" a service that normally is automatically launched what is being intercepted the event to connect a USB device. The fact is that sometimes the service crashes or will not start properly for which we find ourselves in the situation no longer able to properly disconnect our USB device. L 'only solution in this case is to manually start l' "HotPlug Manager" through the following sequence:
- From the Start "select" Run… ";
- In the text box type: "RunDll32.exe shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL HotPlug.dll" and select "OK"
At this point the icon for the removal Safely should appear and then allow you to regain control of your USB devices.
