5 simple rules to double the speed of Emule
Perhaps not everyone knows that the 'default installation of Emule is not sufficient by itself to get a configuration that makes it possible to exploit the full potential in terms of download speed. There are limits on both the level of operating system, is indeed a provider of ADSL, both from problems with bogus server. All have the same aim: to disrupt and discourage P2P. In this article we can bypass these obstacles, in just five straight points, going so far as to double the speed and performances of Emule.
- Increase the maximum number of connections available.
Both on Windows XP (from Service Pack 2) is about Windows Vista was a restriction on the number of connections partial (also known as half open) that the operating system more open simultaneously. Specifically, Microsoft has introduced a limit of 10 simultaneous connections part for security reasons to prevent DDoS attacks and limit the action of viruses, worms and so on. Unfortunately for the operation of Emule this limit is a strong bottleneck as P2P networks need to keep open a large number of partial connections. So the suggestion is: install a good antivirus anyway to keep your PC safe and increased the limit of connections half open illlustrato the steps below.- From site www.lvllord.de downloaded the patch EvID4226Patch223d-en.zip
- Open the zip and double-click the executable to start EvID4226Patch.exe
- You see a DOS window like the one below that you propose to change the setting of the maximum number of half-open connections, lead by 10 (default) to 50. As for Emule the optimal value is 100, hit the first "C" (Change Limit), and type "100", dates Sending and definitively confirmed with "Y".
- See the "Windows File Protection" that will warn you that some system files have been modified to include inviting the Windows CD to restore the situation. Ignore the warning by selecting "Cancel" and subsequently confirmed that it would not restore the original versions of system files by selecting "Yes"
- Restart the PC to make changes.
- The next time you restart your PC, open Emule and go to menu item "Options" button on the bar at the top. Select "Advanced Options", identified the voice configuration "No. Massimo Connections Partial Open and edit it by inserting the figure" 100 ". Confirm the change by selecting "OK".
- Set in an optimum manner the limits of upload and download
An incorrect setting limits upload and download can significantly decrease the performance of Emule. In order to optimally configure these parameters is above all necessary to understand precisely what your ADSL is really fast (beyond what can declare your provider). Proceed as follows:- Close all applications that connect to the Internet (emule, email, chat programs, ...)
- Go to the site myspeed.visualware.com / uk: from here you can run a test speed of your ADSL line. In the center console "Broadband Speed Test" change the unit of measurement of speed by clicking the lower right (see part highlighted in red in 'image below) so as to obtain results in kbps (bytes per second) and not in kbps (bits per second). Start the test by selecting the button "Click to start MySpeed" After a few seconds you get a similar result as shown below.
- How open and go to menu item "Options" button on the bar at the top. Select the "Connection" and reported accurately in the two text boxes "Download" and "Upload" the two values obtained from tests carried out speed. Remove the check checkbox on the "Download Limit" and brought the "Upload Limit" all '80% of the value added otherwise you risk blocking the whole' operation of your PC. Confirm the change by selecting "OK".
- Keep up to date list of servers
The best way to manage servers How is the manual, otherwise you run the risk of having a long list of servers slow, useless and maybe even inactive or defunct.- How open and go to menu item "Options" button on the bar at the top. Select the "Server" and disable the two options:
"Update List Server when you connect to a server"
"Update List Server when you connect to a client"
Finally set to "5" the number of connection attempts after which a server is considered inactive and then removed from the list. Confirm the change by selecting "OK".
- In the main screen Emule select the menu item "Server" on the top bar. In the right pane, "Update server.met by URL" enter the address http://ed2kmet.x24hr.com/pl/slist.pl?download/server-good.met and then click on "Update". This intervention should be carried out at least once or twice a month.
- How open and go to menu item "Options" button on the bar at the top. Select the "Server" and disable the two options:
- Properly set security options
In network server that there are breaks as servers Emule but in reality are server-spy aimed only to monitor and log the P2P traffic or the purpose only to impede the sharing of files.- How open and go to menu item "Options" button on the bar at the top. Select the "Security" and "Upgrade by 'URL' type http://www.bluetack.info/temp/nipfilter.dat.gz. If for some reason the link does not work you can download the file manually from here, save it locally and then on the "Update on 'URL' type the full path to the directory where you saved the file in the format file: / / path / nipfilter.dat.gz (for example, if 'you saved in C: \'ll have to type file: / / c: / nipfilter.dat.gz). Select "Upload" to activate the filter.
- Check the checkbox "Filter also Server"
- Optionally, if you have difficulty to connect or to obtain an ID high because your provider hampers P2P connections, or if you simply want to be absolutely anonymous and difficult to trace, you can also select the checkbox "Enable 's Offuscamento Protocol"
- Optimizing the way of sharing their files
The system for downloading Emule is managed code and the calculation of the priority of downloading a file to a user over another is based on a mechanism to credit some 'articulated: If you are interested in you can find a good explanation here. We still need only know the basic rule which is that more you share more you can download from others. One of the tricks that are being taken to encourage maximum upload from your client rare material and still not widespread in the fact to set the priority of all files shared at most that is "Release":
